ACCA Prizewinner P1

Recent ACCA prizewinner Sinead Grogan who achieved joint 1st in Ireland and 8th overall in the World in her ACCA P1 exam. Sinead is pictured together with James O’Connor, P1 lecturer and Shane Ormsby, Director of IBAT College.

Most recent prize winner is Kairi Uibo, who achieved 1st place in Ireland and 9th place in the world in paper F8 Audit and Assurance in ACCA exams in June 2012.

Paul has lectured extensively in Financial and Management Accounting over the past five years in both private and state colleges including ACCA and ICAI students. Prior to 2002, Paul worked as a professional accountant for many years. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants and holds an MBS in Marketing and Entrepreneurship.

Cliodna holds a Barrister-at-Law Degree from the Honorable Society of Kings Inns, a Bachelor of European Business and Legal Studies from University College Dublin and a Graduate Diploma in Information Technology from Dublin City University. Having previously worked in the business sector and now a practicing Barrister-at-Law Cliodna brings her extensive experience in both law and business to her teaching practice enabling her to deliver an in-depth and high quality Corporate and Business Law programme.

James has been lecturing, specialising in business related subjects on Masters, Professional and Undergraduate academic programmes for a number of years. He is also responsible for the design and delivery of business related training modules for corporate clients. He has previously lectured with the D.I.T. and V.E.C. He holds an honours M.B.A. from D.C.U. as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Training and Education. Prior to going into full-time training, James has worked for three separate and distinct multinational companies (American, Japanese and Irish) in various management roles. He is a confident lecturer and his style is very supportive to accommodating and enhancing upon a positive student academic experience

Barry Smith – Profile –ACCA Lecturer F7
Barry Smith, chartered accountant, has been teaching accounting and finance since 2001. He spent five years teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at Dublin City University Business School. In 2006, he left Dublin City University to establish his own business developing online accounting and finance educational content. Barry continues to teach ACCA and ACA accounting courses on a freelance basis and has recently authored a financial accounting textbook for McGraw-Hill publishers. Prior to working at DCU, he spent five years working with PricewaterhouseCoopers in New Zealand, Germany and Zimbabwe. Barry holds undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from University College Dublin and is currently completing PhD research at the University of Birmingham, UK.

Michael Reidy - IATI Taxation Lecturer

Michael is currently employed by the RevenueCommissioners and has over 30 years experience in various areas of theorganisation. His current role in Revenue’s Planning Division includesdeveloping and implementing new taxes and duties.

Having spent several years working as an auditorfor Revenue he later went on to design and develop components of Revenue’s audittraining programme, which is accredited by University of Limerick to diploma anddegree level in Applied Taxation. Michael has lectured extensively in taxationfor many years including Revenue auditors, Accounting Technicians Ireland, Instituteof Taxation and ACCA. In addition, he has also set, marked and provided qualityassurance on many taxation exams.

Michael’s qualifications’ include B.A. (HonoursDegree) in Applied Taxation from University of Limerick; he is an Associate ofInstitute of Taxation and was awarded a Diploma in Management Business Studies byIMI.

Michael focuses on ensuring students are fullyaware of what is expected in taxation exams and how to apply their taxknowledge to real life business situations.

David Ahern, FCCA, FAIA - ACCA Lecturer P2

(Fellow of the chartered certified accountants and Fellow of the association of international accountants)
David has over 20 years lecturing experience as a professional accountancy lecturer on ACCA programmes. He was founder director of BPP in Ireland and his students have been placed 1st in Ireland on numerous occasions, including two world 1st place prize-winners.
David is one of the most widely renowned P2 lecturers in Ireland and we were delighted to welcome him as a member of our lecturing team at IBAT for the September-December 2012 term. At the December 2012 sitting, all P2 students who had 100% lecture attendance achieved a 100% pass rate.

Isolde Hampson – ACCA Lecturer F6
Isolde is a Principal Officer with the Revenue Commissioners. She has 33 years experience working across several areas of the organisation. She currently heads up the Wicklow Office of the Revenue Commissioners and is responsible for all taxes and duties within that geographical area. She spent several years working as an auditor for the Revenue Commissioners. Later she went on to design and develop part of Revenue’s training programme for its trainee auditors, which is accredited by University of Limerick with a diploma or degree in Applied Taxation. She taught and set exams for several Taxation and Financial Accounting modules on that course. Before moving to her current position she headed up Revenue’s Incentives Division. In that role she was responsible for taxation policy aimed at supporting job creation and encouraging foreign direct investment into Ireland. While in that role she drafted legislation for seven Finance Acts. Isolde holds a First Class Honours BBS Degree in Financial and Management Accounting. She has been teaching Taxation 1 and Advanced Taxation on the IATI programme since 2002. She joined IBAT College in 2006.

Margaret O`Keefe - ACCA Lecturer F3

Margaret has a BA in Accounting and Finance from DCU and is a qualified ACCA accountant. She has strong lecturing experience at Masters, Undergraduate and ACCA levels in Financial Accounting, Financial Analysis and Financial Management. She has taught with Dublin Business School on the MBA and MSc in Accounting and Finance and is currently with IBAT College on the ACCA F3 programme. Prior to this she lectured at Dublin City University on a number of Masters programmes and on the BA in Accounting and Finance. In addition to her lecturing experience, she has strong and diverse commercial experience as an investment commercial evaluator with Enterprise Ireland, an auditor and a financial controller, all of which have strongly enhanced her teaching.
