Accounting Technicians Ireland ATI Evening Courses Part Time Accountancy

Accounting Technicians are qualified accounting professionals that work at all levels of finance. They can work in all types of organisations and are widely employed throughout the public sector, industry and commerce and in private accounting practices. Graduates of the Accounting Technicians Ireland course can work on their own or alongside professional accountants. Graduates of this course can expect to leave with the knowledge, skills and techniques required by the modern professional accountant.

Where will this Accountancy Course take my Career?

While the Accounting Technician Ireland qualification is in itself an excellent route into a rewarding career in Finance, many students can use ATI as an alternative route onto one of the main professional accountancy qualifications – ACCA, ACA, CPA, or CIMA. On successful completion of the ATI (Accounting Technicians Ireland) qualification the candidate is eligible for transfer to one of these Professional Programmes.

ATI - Accounting Technician IrelandAccounting Technicians Ireland (ATI) is the leading accounting technician body in Ireland with over 10,000 members and students. ATI is a partner body with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, the oldest and largest body of Accountants in Ireland. As members of the Institute, individuals are entitled to put the letters MATI after their name, seen by many employers as essential when hiring.

Prospective students must register and be accepted as student members of the ATI, strict deadlines apply. The timetable for each of the subjects is structured to provide a focused tuition section, dedicated revision sessions including a corrected mock exam.

 

Am I eligible for the ATI course?

Leaving Certificate – Five passes on Ordinary papers to include either Mathematics or Accountancy.

FETAC, HETAC Award holders may be entitled to exemptions.

How long is the ATI course?

The ATI course is taught annually two evenings a week from September (6.30-9.30pm).

Isolde Hampson – IATI Taxation 1 and Advanced Taxation Lecturer
Isolde is a Principal Officer with the Revenue Commissioners. She has 33 years experience working across several areas of the organisation. She currently heads up the Wicklow Office of the Revenue Commissioners and is responsible for all taxes and duties within that geographical area. She spent several years working as an auditor for the Revenue Commissioners. Later she went on to design and develop part of Revenue’s training programme for its trainee auditors, which is accredited by University of Limerick with a diploma or degree in Applied Taxation. She taught and set exams for several Taxation and Financial Accounting modules on that course. Before moving to her current position she headed up Revenue’s Incentives Division. In that role she was responsible for taxation policy aimed at supporting job creation and encouraging foreign direct investment into Ireland. While in that role she drafted legislation for seven Finance Acts. Isolde holds a First Class Honours BBS Degree in Financial and Management Accounting. She has been teaching Taxation 1 and Advanced Taxation on the IATI programme since 2002. She joined IBAT College in 2006.

Uchenna Achebe - IATI Financial Accounting 1 Lecturer

Uchenna is currently a lecturer in IBAT College Dublin, where she currently teaches Business Communications and Organisational Behaviour. She has over 13 years of experience in various organisations and banks including Bank of America and Dublin AIDS Alliance, where she worked in the finance departments.Uchenna has a BSc in Accountancy; she is a Chartered Accountant(ACCA qualified) and also has an MBA from the University of Wales, England.

Eithne Corry

BL (The Honourable Society of the Kings Inns), Bachelor of Civil Law (National University of Ireland, Galway), Dioploma sa Ghaeilge do dhliodoiri (Ollscoil na hEireann Gaillimh). Eithne is a barrister, practising in all areas of civil law and specialising in media, commercial and insolvency law. Eithne previously acted as an in-house lawyer to TG4 and has lectured in Dublin City University and The Law Society of Ireland. Eithne currently delivers lectures to ATI and Fetac Legal Studies students.

Seamus Casey

Seamus brings 25 years experience in the manufacturing industry at both Financial Controller level and General Management to his lectures in Management Accounting and Performance Management. He has lectured on ACCA, IATI and Third Level courses. A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Seamus has a primary Degree in Electrical Engineering from UCC. Seamus’ focus is on ensuring students understand the logic and broader implications of the syllabus drawing from his own extensive experience. From that solid base a detailed review and practice of past exam papers drives positive results for students.

Michael Reidy - IATI Taxation Lecturer

Michael is currently employed by the RevenueCommissioners and has over 30 years experience in various areas of theorganisation. His current role in Revenue’s Planning Division includesdeveloping and implementing new taxes and duties.

Having spent several years working as an auditorfor Revenue he later went on to design and develop components of Revenue’s audittraining programme, which is accredited by University of Limerick to diploma anddegree level in Applied Taxation. Michael has lectured extensively in taxationfor many years including Revenue auditors, Accounting Technicians Ireland, Instituteof Taxation and ACCA. In addition, he has also set, marked and provided qualityassurance on many taxation exams.

Michael’s qualifications’ include B.A. (HonoursDegree) in Applied Taxation from University of Limerick; he is an Associate ofInstitute of Taxation and was awarded a Diploma in Management Business Studies byIMI.

Michael focuses on ensuring students are fullyaware of what is expected in taxation exams and how to apply their taxknowledge to real life business situations.
