Want to get a strong grounding in the core pillars of business? Interested in the emerging trends in the field of marketing or develop a stronger understanding of the current economic environment? Want to understand the important role that financial analysis plays in a business? Then the Bachelor of Business (Honours) is the course for you. This four-year degree programme provides a broad range of business skills in conjunction with a detailed knowledge of the current business environment in which companies operate. The practical focus adopted by the College will help develop our students with the necessary personal and professional skills that will allow them to confidently progress onto a relevant postgraduate course or start a successful business career.

Prospects

A graduate of the College's Bachelor of Business (Honours) course would be strongly suited to a position at a junior or middle management level across many different sectors, from SME's to Multi-National Corporations. This degree programme also prepares graduates for entry level positions in a number of different business areas, such as Marketing and Human Resource Management.

Many of the College's graduates pursue postgraduate qualifications in a range of areas and are well equipped for progression onto IBAT College Dublin postgraduate programmes.

Entry Requirements

Access is facilitated through the standard CAO route. A minimum of two C3s in higher-level subjects and four D3 in ordinary-levels subjects in the Leaving Certificate, including English and maths, are required.

Mature students (aged 23 and above on the 1st of January on the year of admission) should apply directly to IBAT College Dublin.

International students should apply directly. IBAT College uses a number of comparison systems, such as NARIC and the NQAI Qualifications Recognition system, to compare and establish equivalency of international awards. An IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent is required for non-native English speakers.

Modules

The College starts its degree programme from the beginning in year 1, concentrating on introductions to core business areas, and builds to discussing more strategic issues facing business in year 4. In year 4, the student will have an opportunity to develop specialist knowledge through the three elective options - International Business, Marketing and Business Information Systems.

Jackie Kennedy -Human Resource Management lecturer

Jackie has an MA in Strategic Human Resource Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in Learning & Teaching. She has extensive lecturing experience in private and state 3rd level institutions in Ireland and Asia. She teaches subjects in Business Communications, Management, Human Resource Management, and Strategy at post graduate and undergraduate levels. Jackie has over 20 years’ experience as a senior HR professional in the Financial Services sector, in both senior management positions and as an independent HR consultant. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development and of the Society of Human Resource Management in the US.

Mark Dean – IS/IT Lecturer
Mark is an IT professional with over 19 years industry experience. Over this period he has accumulated knowledge and skills from numerous sectors ranging from education through to manufacturing and banking. He has been involved in many IT roles including software developer, team leader, systems analyst, and corporate IT trainer. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science from Trinity College and has lectured on both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Jeff has five years lecturing experience chiefly in the management and event management domain. Through his experiences in the event management industry Jeff brings real world examples and a practical knowledge into the classroom. Jeff is currently a Phd researcher at the Dublin Institute of Technology, studying creativity and innovation in business education.

Ruth has been a Member in Practice since 2005 running my own company providing accounting services. She has also been lecturing part time since 2005 in the areas of financial accounting, management accounting, financial management and introductory level accounting modules at FETAC and HETAC levels 6 to 8.
