Computerised Accounts

Payroll
- To acquire the important knowledge and skills to use both manual and computerised payroll systems
- To appreciate the importance of accuracy and security in preparing and maintaining payroll records
- To acquire the knowledge and understanding of how the cumulative, emergency and temporary tax systems operate
PRINCIPLE AREAS OF STUDY
Computerised Accounts
- The use of computer systems in an accounts environment
- File Management - Hardware and Software
- Computerised Accounts v's Manual Accounts
- The security of computer systems including passwords, anti-virus protection software and the Data Protection Act.
These principles involves practice in the following areas including setting up a new company, entering opening balances, setting up new customers, setting up new suppliers, entering sales invoices, credit notes and customer receipts, entering supplier invoices, credit notes and supplier payments, entering journals for accruals, prepayments, depreciation and adjustments, reconciling the bank, extracting a trial balance, profit and loss account and balance sheet, vat returns and restoring and backing up data. All students will be provided with their own FREE fully functioning copy of the TASBOOKS accounts software.
Successfull applicants in the computerised accounts module will receive a Fetac level 5 component award in Bookkeeping – Manual and Computerised.

For Manual Payroll, this involves studying topics including payroll terms & frequencies, tax credits, standard cut offs and cumulative, emergency and temporary tax systems, cumulative tax deduction/emergency/temporary tax deduction form, calculating gross pay & tax liability, PRSI & income levies and statutory documents: P45, P60, P30 and P35.
For Computerised Payroll, this will involve studying practices including entering company details, setting a payroll period, entering employee details including tax credits, standard cut offs, base codes for PRSI, salary details, processing payroll, editing employee data, print payroll reports, printing payslips, print relevent statutory documents e.g. P45, P60, P30 and P35, updating records, saving data and password protection. All students will be provided with their own FREE fully functioning copy of the QUICKPAY accounts software.
Successfull applicants in the payroll module will receive a Fetac level 5 component award in Payroll – Manual and Computerised.
Who accredits this course?
This course is accredited by FETAC. FETAC is the national awarding body for further education and training in Ireland. The Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC) gives people the opportunity to gain recognition for learning in education or training institutions, in the work place and in the community.

How long is the course?
This course is taught on Saturdays from 10am until 4pm for 7 weeks.

| Laura Flynn – TAS Books and Quickpay Lecturer Laura has over twenty five years experience in the private sector in Accounting and Finance. She has managed several companies in Dublin. She has also been delivering training on Accounts packages for over the past ten years. Laura has working knowledge of several computerised software packages including legal packages and can combine her knowledge and experience to deliver her courses. Laura holds a Diploma in Teaching in IT and a Certificate in Teaching and Learning from NUI Maynooth. |

The fee for this course is €495. Alternatively, you may study the Computerised Accounts componant for €350 or the Payroll componant for €250.

I saw the information about Computerised Accounts and Payroll. I have had done a bit in basic payroll when i worked in office for a year. Currently i study Interior Design, I realise I like working in office and have considered to steer the direction in the area of computerised accounts and payroll. As art is just hobby for me. I d like to do something like that as I dont want to go back to college ever again. so the short course would be great for me as i hope to gain the job once I get that regonistaion. The problem is if i have to pay that course.. would your provide the interpreter as I am deaf? i would appreciate your reply ASAP. Thanks
