About the course
This course has been developed for Web Designers and Web Programmers who wish to advance their skills to include database driven websites. A database driven website supports the additional of a wide range of services and functionality to a website which includes user login, online payments, product management, advanced searching and feedback forms.
The course will also teach students to develop websites which have a secure back-end administration section that allows web administrators to insert, update and delete products from the database. Students will able to bring real world work problems to the class to be solved. Students will have the option to building their own project during the course - or one will be given to them so that they can develop their skills.

Basics of PHP - syntax, variables, control structures Working with PHP functions, arrays, text, date and time and email Using PHP to process forms and authenticate users Introducing MySQL Using PHP with MySQL Writing SQL select and join queries using PHPMYADMIN Using Templating (Smarty) to separate code and html Working with AJAX - using PHP with jquery and json Understanding Object Oriented PHP Managing Errors and Exception Handling Working with PHP frameworks such as Zend Framework and CakePHP Working with content management systems such as Joomla and Wordpress Writing Secure PHP applications

Am I eligible for the course?
This course has been specifically designed for Web Designers/Programmers who have an excellent knowledge of HTML and CSS. Knowledge of JavaScript is desirable but not a prerequisite. Students how have completed the Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Web Design course or completed the Advanced Diploma in Desktop Publishing / Graphic Design for the Web Course

This course is certified by the IBAT College, on successful completion of the course you will receive an Diploma in Web Programming (PHP and MySQL).
How long is the course?
The course is over 14 weeks. Every Wednesday 6.30p.m.-9.30p.m.

| John Rowley – Web Design / PHP SQL Lecturer John Rowley's career spans web development (LAMP), Web Manager and Corporate spokesman (Ryanair), 11 years in software management and development (Symantec, Corel), technical training (PHP, MySQL, Perl, XML, C#, CSS Javascript), technical writing (C++, Java), documentation management and news journalism. He was the first PHP developer in Ireland to achieve Zend PHP Certification and the first technical writer in Ireland to document C++ compiler and application frameworks. He is MySQL Certified and has worked as a consultant / developer for Irish Rail, Suzuki, Nestle, and Eli Lilly. He currently works as a .NET information architect for the ECDL foundation where he develops the centre and candidate administration systems for the ECDL programs in Ireland. On a lighter note, he's also an accomplished standbup comedian, performing regularly in Manchester and Dublin. |
