About the Advanced Diploma in Web Design at IBAT College Dublin

This part-time course has been specifically designed for existing Web Designers who wish to expand their knowledge of website design. The course assumes a basic level of knowledge of website design equivalent to the IBAT College Dublin Diploma in Web Design. It is not suitable for beginner web designers students should be able to demonstrate a proficient knowledge of design.

Students will be taken from the initial design of a Cinema Listing and Booking website using a CSS grid system for the initial design and will learn how to integrate interactive elements such as tabs, accordions, content panels and to use AJAX functions to update parts of their web page.

The main objective of this course is to upskill existing web designers from a basic level of website design to a more advanced level. It includes Client-Side JavaScript Programming for the web and gives a really solid foundation in HTML and CSS code, which are essential skills for all advanced website designers. Another main objective of the course is to enable existing website designers to design sites responsive to the latest devices & capable of being deployed as mobile applications on iOS and Android devices using technologies such as HTML 5 and PhoneGap.

Students holding an IBAT Advanced Diploma in Web Design may be able to apply for more senior positions as web designers. The course will allow existing web designers to expand their knowledge of website design and enable them to create more advanced web designs and work on more advanced web projects. John Rowley – Advanced Web Design / PHP SQL Lecturer

John Rowley's career spans web development (LAMP), Web Manager and Corporate spokesman (Ryanair), 11 years in software management and development (Symantec, Corel), technical training (PHP, MySQL, Perl, XML, C#, CSS Javascript), technical writing (C++, Java), documentation management and news journalism. He was the first PHP developer in Ireland to achieve Zend PHP Certification and the first technical writer in Ireland to document C++ compiler and application frameworks. He is MySQL Certified and has worked as a consultant / developer for Irish Rail, Suzuki, Nestle, and Eli Lilly. He currently works as a .NET information architect for the ECDL foundation where he develops the centre and candidate administration systems for the ECDL programs in Ireland. On a lighter note, he's also an accomplished stand-up comedian, performing regularly in Manchester and Dublin.
