Organic search can account for 40% of site traffic, underlying the massive opportunity for companies with online content and ecommerce solutions to acquire unpaid traffic.

"It’s not enough to just produce content. Your content must educate, inspire, or entertain your audience."

Jordan Schneider, Director of Marketing | Technology Advice

"When you are learning SEO it can be easy to just get into the habit of reading best practices and assuming they are true. The best knowledge you can give yourself is by doing."

Brian Carter, CEO and Lead Consultant | The Carter Group

The course also gives a practical guide to analysing your website traffic via Google Search Console and Google Analytics. It also demonstrates the practicalities of building traffic via Google AdWords, one of the most targetted methods of online advertising, where you can place your search results in front of potential customers at the very moment that they are searching for your product.

This practical hand-on course will cover the key search engine marketing techniques necessary for any successful business website. You'll learn about the process of optimisation including keyword research, writing optimised content, getting web pages indexed by engines and tracking outcomes while using Google own tools and resources.

WordPress

WordPress is a free Open Source platform system used by millions of people around the world to create beautiful websites and blogs. WordPress has become the CMS (Content Management System) of choice for millions of websites (not just bloggeres!) around the world, over 6% of all websites on the internet are powered using WordPress. When configured correctly, WordPress offers SEO capabilities that are significantly superior to, and easier to execute, than many of its high-cost enterprise-class competitors. This course will show you, using live demonstrations, the process of search engine optimisation on a WordPress website and teach you the optimal ways to configure your WordPress website for maximum natural (unpaid) placement performance on Google and other search engines.

Keyword research is one of the most important and valuable activities in field of online marketing. Ranking for the right keywords can make or break your website. This course will show you practical methods of keyword research using Google's own Keyword Tool, until you know what words and phrases are most important for your website to rank for - you cannot properly optimise the pages in your site to help draw qualified traffic and leads to your site.

Google Analytics

Building and publishing a website is certainly an important aspect of running a business, regardless of how large or small it may be. However, it is important to track the website’s performance in order to see how well it is doing. Businesses may spend money on online advertising to attract visitors to their website, however, they often forget or miss out on important tools that can be used to monitor the website’s success. Google Search Console (previously Google Webmaster Tools) is one of the most powerful tools available on internet to rank your websites and are essential for any strong SEO effort. The toolset provided gives you insights into what pages have been indexed on your site, what links are pointing to it, your most popular keywords. Google Search Console helps monitor website traffic, optimise rankings, and make informed decisions about the appearance of your site's search results. You can use the information in Search Console to influence technical decisions for the website and do sophisticated marketing analysis in conjunction with other Google tools like Analytics and Google AdWords.

Google Analytics

The optimisation of marketing campaigns and digital content is an ongoing process, but unless you know you are making steps in the right direction, you could actually be making changes which mean your campaigns perform worse than they did beforehand. This is where Google Analytics comes into it play, By understanding what works and what doesn’t, you can be sure to invest your time optimising the right activities, and dropping those that don’t work. Google Analytics is the epitomises of digital marketing practice, it shows you the full customer picture across ads and videos, websites and social tools, tablets and smartphones. Google Analytics is a powerful business tool, but it is often not being used to its full potential by online companies to analyse and improve the performance of a website to help gain a competitive advantage. In the context of conversion optimisation, this course takes you through the set-up options, the main data reports and tools, plus the more advanced reporting and analysis options to help you identify the key areas of interest.

55%

Percentage of Irish companies with websites not using Google Webtools and Analytics.

53%

Google Analytics

Search Engine Optimisation is hard work, you need to have good content, good on-page optimisation, good link authority and be shared socially. These activities take time to achieve success, you are also competing against everyone else in the market who is competing for the same key phrases. It is not like it was 5 or 10 years ago when only a few people in your industry had websites. So this is where Google Adwords comes in. Google AdWords is one of the most targeted methods of online advertising, where you can place your search results in front of potential customers at the very moment that they’re searching for the products or services you offer. Search advertising with AdWords is powerful, flexible and data driven, giving you high levels of management control – but you need to have the basics in place. This course will give you a step-by-step guide to setting up a great campaign and then reviewing and optimising your account to achieve the best results for your business. Whether you are considering using AdWords for the first time, or are already running an account, this course will give you the insights into best practices, great tools and the reports you need to understand how your advertising is working and what could be improved.
