The primary goal of Student Services at IBAT College Dublin is to ensure you have access to the support you need to achieve your goals. Each programme has a dedicated Programme Leader whose primary function is to ensure that you receive the personal attention and support you need for all academic issues throughout your time with us. We are small enough to build relationships with each of our students and we care about your success. We also offer a full range of support services from accommodation, library and careers services to information on student visas working in Ireland. On campus, students have access to wireless internet, modern IT labs and student recreation areas with kitchen facilities.
Library and Information Services
The library and information facilities cater to the academic and research requirements of students at all levels of education within the College.
In addition to the on campus library all of the electronic resources are available off-campus, 24 hours a day. The library catalogue, e-books and databases can also be searched via mobile. The library collections comprise print texts, e-journals, e-books and online databases.
Library inductions are provided for all new and returning students at the start of term, to familiarise students with the library facilities, both physical and on-line, and also teaches students how to search and evaluate information, avoid plagiarism and reference correctly. Library Induction supports users to locate material relevant to their studies and research through Information Literacy Workshops.
IT Services and Learning Portal
During induction each learner is provided with their own login account for accessing the IBAT College Dublin Learning Portal. Once they log-in the learner can access numerous support services which have been customised specifically for them and their area of study including:
- Module selection and notes for all classes.
- A student feedback service can be accessed through the Learning Portal for each module and allows students to provide instantaneous feedback to the academic team.
- The Learning Portal also has a forum section containing many threads which range from discussions on areas of study, organising study groups, best reading lists and study material, selling of second hand books and organising social and sporting events within the College.
Via Google Apps the following communication and collaboration services are provided to all registered students:
- Gmail – Providing all learners with 25 gigabytes of storage per account.
- Google Talk – Lecturers and students can call or send instant messages to each other for free.
- Google Calendar – Students can organise their schedules and share events, meetings and entire calendars.
- Google Docs – Provides learners with 25 gigabytes of storage for storing and sharing files 24/7 from any computer inside or outside the college.
The College is continually upgrading its IT resources with the latest hardware and software. All workstations have high-speed Internet access with printing facilities for all workstations. All students have access to these facilities to assist research, enhance knowledge and improve correspondence.
In today’s workplace, knowledge of business theory is important, but it is the practical application of this theory where the added value lies. Courses which focus on today’s business environment, and which provide students with the methodologies employers need from day one, are highly sought after; industry-relevant courses that give students direct access to the practical skills that employers value most. A programme of study at IBAT College Dublin provides graduates who are workplace ready and the Careers Service within the College has been developed to help students make informed career decisions, set realistic career goals and develop the skills necessary to accomplish their goals.
The College’s Careers Service provides a range of services to help meet the career planning, job search, career development and management needs of IBAT College Dublin students. Students also have access to the IBAT College Dublin online Career Portal which provides Information on CV and cover letter writing; further study opportunities; job vacancies search; preparing for an interview; post-degree career options; resources for employers; seeking internships; and seeking work experience.
A range of jobs and internships, which may be of interest to students and graduates, are posted on the IBAT College Dublin Job Portal. The College also runs an annual careers’ fair to support students’ career aspirations, to facilitate their engagement with employers and professional bodies, and to also consider post-programme progression options.
