Ireland’s Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) has introduced a bridging permission for eligible English language students progressing to higher education.
Students who have completed a 2nd or 3rd English course and secured a place in a Higher Education Programme starting by October 2026 may receive a temporary Stamp 2 permission valid until 30 September 2026.
Valid for applications from 1 May to 31 August 2026
Key points:
- Must have a confirmed and fully paid higher education course
- Applies to students completing their 2nd course (after 1 July) or 3rd course
- Application via ISD online portal
- Some applicants may be fee-exempt
- This is a short-term permission, and students must renew their immigration status before it expires.
