Protection of Enrolled Learners (PEL International Students)

IBAT College Dublin has Protection of Enrolled Learners (PEL) arrangements in place to ensure that in the event of a cessation of programmes by the college, such arrangements will ensure a learner has a smooth continuance of the programme they are studying or they receive a refund in fees.

This arrangement complies with Section 65(4)(a) of the Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Act 2012 in respect of learners on a programme leading to a QQI Award.

Part 6 of The Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Act 2012 specifies that PEL refers only to programmes of three months duration or more where fees have been paid by, or on behalf of, the learner.

The English PEL arrangement

‘Protection of the Enrolled (PEL) learner’ offers protection to students in two ways:

  1. firstly with cover for their fees
  2. secondly through an extensive auditing process for all schools that are certified to offer Enrolled Learner Protection insurance to their students

The policy will either:

  • place a student into an alternative college, IBAT is a member of MEI (Marketing English in Ireland), and a condition of membership is to facilitate a student to complete their studies if possible in a member school.

or

  • refund the NET fees due back to the student.

The Higher Education PEL arrangement (International Students)

This is a financial bonding arrangement. This means the learner receives a full or partial refund of fees paid. The refund amount will depend on the unused portion of the fees paid.

Learner Protection is provided by Arachas Learner Protection Programme and underwritten by Aviva Insurance Ltd.

The current fee is:
