Programme Overview
The BA (Honours) in Business is designed for school leavers and mature students aiming for a career in business. It provides a broad understanding of key business disciplines, including management, marketing, finance, HR, economics, ICT, and entrepreneurship. The programme prepares students for a successful career in diverse, global business environments, focusing on industry-relevant skills and competencies..
Through practical assessments and industry feedback, students gain confidence, teamwork and communication skills. You can choose between a Business Project or Professional Practice Project to specialise in a particular area of interest.
Upon completion, graduates will:

Programme Structure and Content
The BA (Honours) in Business is a three-year full-time programme, divided into two semesters per academic year. Each year consists of 24 teaching weeks, two study weeks, and four assessment weeks, with six modules per semester. Assessments are split between coursework and a combination of coursework and exams.
In the final year, students choose a business topic for a project, either through research or professional practice with a company, to be presented at an event attended by employers and recruiters.
- Year 1 Modules: Introduction to Business, ICT in Business, Business Mathematics and Statistics, Effective Communications for Business, Learning and Development, Marketing Fundamentals, Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, Consumer Behaviour, Financial Accounting, Management Principles and Principles of Business Law.
- Year 2 Modules : Digital and Social Media Marketing, Ethics and Regulatory Compliance, Human Resource Management Fundamentals, Information Systems Management, Management Accounting, Operations Management, Business Law, Applied Project Management, Business Intelligence, Economic Analysis and Sustainability, Consumer Behaviour and Marketing Communications and Sales Management.
- Year 3 Modules: Data Analytics for Business, Financial Management, Innovation, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, Personal and Professional Development, Research Methods, Strategic Human Resource Management, Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance, Information Security Management, Organisational Leadership, Strategic Management and a Business Project or a Professional Practice Project.

This broad-based, industry-focused programme provides a strong foundation in business concepts and practices, leading to an internationally recognized honours degree. Graduates are well-suited for junior or middle management roles in various sectors, including marketing, sales, project management, business technology, and HR.
Many graduates also pursue postgraduate qualifications and can progress onto IBAT College Dublin’s postgraduate programmes.

Entry Requirements
Academic Qualifications:
- Two H5 grades and four O6/H7 grades in the Irish Leaving Certificate.
Or
Overseas equivalent qualifications:
- Must align with a level-8 Business award in the QQI standard. IBAT College Dublin uses the NARIC system for qualification comparison
Mature Applicants:
- Must be at least 23 years old by 1st January of the year of admission
- No standard academic entry required, but applicants must provide evidence of prior learning, work experience, motivation, and commitment (CV, personal statement, work references, and any relevant training courses)
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):
- Applicants with relevant prior learning may enter directly into Stage 2 or the Award Stage.
English Language Requirements
- Native English speakers: No further proof required
- Non-native speakers: IELTS Academic score of 6.0 or equivalent
- Alternative: Duolingo English Test with a minimum score of 105 (equivalent to IELTS 6.0)
- Other Qualifications: If you completed your final education in English, consult with the Admissions Team for validation awards.
