I always wanted to learn how to organise events, as this is something I always enjoyed doing. The lecturer had a lot of experience, so the course was fun, interesting and each class full of useful information. After the course, got a job at the Women’s Mini Marathon. It was a great being able to use my skills and knowledge in my first job in event management

The lecturer was great, able to impart lots of her personal experience in event management. It was a great course, I'm now much better at managing and promoting events and I've also improved my presentation skills.

Lecturer Profile

Edward Cranney, MBS, BA.
Edward Cranney, MBS, BA./ Lecturer Event Management /
I started in the event sector from a very young age. My father was one of the founders of the Moynalty Steam Thrashing which started in 1976 and has gone on to become the largest vintage festivals in the country with annual visitor in the region of 50000 every year. My childhood was steeped in this culture which laid the foundation for my working life as an adult. I completed a BA (Hons) Event Management, Hospitality & Tourism and subsequently an MBS in Entrepreneurship and Marketing. I have seen firsthand the positive impact the event sector can have on a community and incorporate my experience of the sector into the class room experience. I have worked in the field of Event and Entertainment management for 9 years. Particular highlights include my role as Artist Liaison and Event Manager in the IMRO Award winning venue The Spirit Store and the Belfast City Councils Event Unit where I experienced first-hand how a city can use a calendar of events to help rebrand an entire city.
