Why Cyber Professional

Organisations transmit sensitive data across networks and to other devices as part of their business, Cyber security is the practice of defending computers, servers, mobile devices, electronic systems, networks, and data from malicious attacks.

This course is designed to teach you the Basics of cyber security awareness, social engineering, network security and online self defense, even if you have no IT / Cyber Security experience or knowledge. This Course will also prepare you to E-Council CEH Certification (Certified Ethical Hacker).

According to a survey of Irish businesses by Magnet Networks (published in November 2017) a massive 48% of all businesses in Ireland still have no cyber security policy in place and 171,000 businesses in (Ireland) could be vulnerable to crippling ransomeware attacks. On a more global scale, techcentral.ie, in its report ‘Cyber attack surface facts, figures and stats for 2017 to 2022’, indicates that the growth of cyber security, due to the impact of cyber crime, is phenomenal:

  • Cyber crime damages will cost the world $6 trillion annually by 2021.
  • Global spending on cybersecurity will exceed $1 trillion cumulatively from 2017 to 2021.
  • Amazon (6.7% of job postings in cybersecurity) and KPMG (5.5%) were the top two companies hiring in this field in Ireland in 2019.
  • PwC’s 2018 Irish economic crime survey found that the incidence of cybercrime (61%) in Ireland is double that experienced by global companies.
  • The shortage of cyber security professionals in the EMEA region has touched 291,000 in 2019, up from 142,000 in 2018.

STAGE 1 - Introduction (146 Hours)

This stage is an introduction to Cyber Security and Networks, you will learn the basics of technology required to successfully engage in the various cyber fieldssuch as, Basic Technical concept, Operating Systems, CLI, Virtualizationand System administrator topics.

Module 1 – Basics Technical Concepts (4 Hours)

In this Module you will learn technical concepts from the various cyber worlds including computers, technical support, network management, computer communication, programming and Cyber.

In this module you will learn what are the main concepts in the cyber world, while focusing on the three leading principles: Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability (CIA) Anonymous

STAGE 2 - Basic Cyber (130 Hours)

In this stage you will learn the fundamentals of information security and cyber, Encryption, Operating Systems, Ethical Hacking and Cyber Defence.

Module 1 – Encryption (16 Hours)

Humans have always been involved in hiding sensitive information using various encryption methods. Today the encryption field relies mainly on mathematical methods and algorithms. In this module you will learn the concepts of encryption and different encryption methods: symmetric and asymmetric encryption, encryption protocols (TLS-SSL), stacking functions (HASH) and methods of concealing information (stenography) Python language and syntax.

Module 2 – Operating Systems (32 Hours)

Most of the hacker’s targets are based on different operating systems. In order to protect operating systems, it is necessary to know them in depth. In this module you will learn about the different types of operating systems, how they work and how to attack and defend them.

Module 3 – Ethical Hacking (40 Hours)

To learn how to defend our data, we are required to understand the nature of Cyber Attack. In this module you will learn and practice different cyber attacks: denial of service (DOS / DDOS) attacks, network attacks, social engineering attacks such as phishing, web-application attacks and advanced code-based hacking attacks such as Buffer Overflow and more.

STAGE 3 - Advanced Cyber (74 Hours)

This stage covers advanced topics of Cyber Security. These topics will help you become Cyber Pro and starts your career in Cyber Security world.

Module 1 – Hackathon (20 Hours)

In this module you will participate in “Hackathon” (Hacking Marathon), which will allow you to practice Cyber Attacks and Cyber Defense. We will be divided into two teams, red team (Hackers) and blue team (defenders), both teams will practice real attacks that happened in the industry. The exercises will be performed in a cyber security operations center (SOC) established at the college.
