John Vickery is an education consultant since 2016. John has undertaken work for Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), Higher Education Authority (HEA), Health Service Executive (HSE), universities and independent private providers.
John was previously Head of the Certification Body for the International Project Management Association (IPMA) in Ireland until 2023 and a former member of the IPMA Education and Training Board. He has managed projects in China, SE Asia and the Middle East as well as EU funded projects on the environment.
John was Registrar of the Institute of Technology, now part of TUDublin, from 2004 until 2016. He joined IT Tallaght when it opened in in 1992 as Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department. John is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of Engineers Ireland and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He is a former chairperson of the Mechanical Division of Engineers Ireland and the Republic of Ireland Branch of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Prior to working in academia he had industry experience in design and development, maintenance, and manufacturing.
A firm believer in continuing education John throughout his career has undertaken personal development programmes e.g. Leadership Development, Corporate Governance, Innovation (TRIZ Advanced programmes in the Netherlands). John has published peer reviewed research papers on manufacturing processes and was editor of the “Proceedings of the 22nd International Manufacturing Conference, Challenges Facing Manufacturing 2005”.
John joined the Board of Governors of IBAT as an independent member in 2017. He is a member of its Academic Council, Audit and Safety Committee and independent Chairperson of its Nominations Committee.
